A Poem by Nikki Francis
John, Lou and two pussycats are off to sea In a beautiful Najad boat.
They'll take loadsa money and go somewhere sunny But hopefully not too remote!
They'll sail away for a year and a day,
And John'll take his guitar...
"O lovely Lou! O Lou my love,
What a beautiful Lou you are,
You are, you are,
What a beautiful Lou you are!"
"Indaba" 's the name they've given the boat, The dinghy's "Mningy Indaba".
They're Zulu for "meeting" and "trouble", we hear, But I'm sure there'll only be laughter.
"O John, will you change the bedding again?".
"Damned cats!" said John, "O.K.".
But a few rum and cokes and a couple of jokes...
They'll be dancing the night away,
Away, away,
They'll be dancing the night away.
John won't look at the stars above...
Sextants are soooo out of date!
He'll rely on new gadgets to show him the way, Assisted by his First Mate.
So here's to you both and your pussy cats too!
"Watch out!” poor Shui and Shah!
Keep a look-out astern.....We're saving hard, To catch up wherever you are,
You are, you are,
To catch up wherever you are.
